This is a Humpback Whale digital .pdf quilt pattern and instructions. It also includes a list of required fabric yardage that you need to supply. You will be able to download the four files associated with this pattern online as soon as you purchase the listing. Three of the files are printed on normal 8.5" x 11" sheets. The pattern needs to be printed on an 11" x 17" sheet either on your printer or at a local printer. On my home printer, since the 11" x 17" page is too large to print on 8.5" x 11" paper, it gives me the option to print it as a Poster. It divides the image into 4 pages to print and you would then tape them together. Or you can send the pattern file to a local printer to print the 11" x 17" page for you. If you would rather have a paper copy mailed to you, please purchase the other pattern listing:
The directions call for needle-turn applique' (pieced hand quilting), but you can also use fusing to iron the fabric in place and machine stitch (Raw Edge applique') if you prefer. This art pattern by Ann Jensen is designed to have a finished measurement of 18" x 18". You can make a pillow, quilt panel, table runner, wall hanging, etc. You can reduce the pattern at a print shop and make a tote bag, apron, etc. You can also enlarge it to make a baby quilt or up to 42" x 42" quilt, etc.
This pattern calls for six (6) different watercolor batik fabrics, plus a fabric for the border/backing. Of course, you can use any type of fabric in your design; you don't have to use batiks, but they add a very tropical feel to your creation! The pattern includes directions for finishing the back side if you are making a pillow cover. This picture shows the inner design, but you will add a 4" border fabric that is to be sewn around the edges to make it a finished size of 18" x 18". You can have fun choosing different fabrics and creating very different looks. You are sure to be pleased with your finished pictorial quilt!!
You may purchase this for personal use or to make items to sell, but you may not reproduce the copyrighted pattern in any way for someone else. Please refer them to my shop if they would like to make something with this design. Please feel free to ask me any questions you may have. Thank you so much, and happy sewing & quilting!
