Handmade Tropical Beach Sunset Quilted Wall Hanging or Baby Quilt ~ Hand Painted Orange Yellow Ombre Fabric Border Hawaiian Paradise

This is a beautiful quilt that features a beach in Hawaii during a glorious sunset in Haleiwa. This fantastic shot by photographer Shane Myers in Oahu, Hawaii, is called "One Day" and I printed it onto a cotton sateen fabric panel. I used fabric with brown tonal leaves to make a small flange, border around it, and then added blue sky and beach sand fabric on top and bottom of the panel. I used Michael Miller's Pearlized cotton fabric in the Cream Linen color for the two side borders. I then strip pieced some fabric from Island Batik's Jersey Shore and Paisley Dot fabric collections, in orange, yellow, peach, oatmeal, and brown. For the most beautiful finish, I chose Lunn Fabrics Hand Painted Citrus fabric for the outside borders. This fabric has an Ombre design, transitioning from orange to yellow palettes. I designed the borders to continue that Ombre transition smoothly all the way around the outside edges. I also used this same fabric for the outside binding, matching the ombre coloring. And the back of the quilt has the matching Michael Miller Peralized Cream Linen.

Award-winning Master Quilter Lynne Hayley from Sapphire Quilting long-arm quilted this with the "Wave in the Sand" pattern. It looks really beautiful on back and front. Make sure to see all the pictures.

The finished quilt measures 35.5" x 35.5". It would be just stunning as a wall hanging in your home!
