This is a cute addition to a baby boys nursery decorated with a robots or space theme! It's a perfect size for a crib quilt (45" x 45"). It would be a great play mat for the floor for infants on their backs playing with toys dangling above them to those starting to crawl. It could also be a favorite blanket for a toddler watching tv or cuddling with in bed. This is reversible, so it is very versatile. It would be a very fun baby shower gift! Please make sure to see all ten pictures above.
The main colors in this rag quilt are blue, green, and white. There are (12) 6.5" cotton blocks designed with two style of robots and a light blue block with gears on it. This is not your usual rag quilt, because I added stunning and colorful Minky fabric sashing around each block instead of just putting the blocks all together. This was quite a bit of extra work; I couldn't count the hours I've spent on this one! But I really love the colorful look and the soft feel of this one-of-a-kind quilt. I used Shannon Fabrics lime green Dot Minky, turquoise blue Chevron Minky, white Cuddle Minky, and white Stars Minky. On the back side, you see this same Minky, as well as a blue and green striped cotton. I love the back as much as the front!
I added special handmade chenille strips around each block. The inside layer of the quilt is done in a fleece fabric so this will be very soft and cuddly. A meandering stitch was quilted over the robot and gear blocks. The blocks are intended to be slightly offset to add interest. The front of the quilt has the seams showing and I have cut them every .5" to give the rag look. The back is smooth. I have already washed and dried the quilt once to start the beautiful cotton and Minky seam fraying process.
The robots and gears artwork was created by JasperDesign. I have the coordinating robot and gear blocks in my shop individually if you wanted to make a matching pillow, baby bib, etc. You may not reproduce the copyrighted designs in any way. Please feel free to ask me any questions you may have. Thank you so much!
